All big dreams start small and JG King Homes was no exception. Ballarat served as the company’s first humble headquarters, where King began his day with team meetings and a coffee to set the weekly agenda. In its first year of operation, JG King's goal was to build 15 homes. They built 35.

Some things change

Over the next decade, JG King Homes went from strength to strength. The company opened a Bendigo branch in 1986, with offices in Melbourne, Warrnambool, Horsham, Geelong, Mildura, Wodonga, Traralgon and Shepparton soon after.

Some things stay the same

Guided by John G King’s principles of family and community, contributing to local society remains core to the JG King Homes ethos. This encompasses everything from building homes for charity to sponsoring local sports clubs and events. King himself is a recognised philanthropist who received an Order of Australia in 2009.

All roads lead home

JG King Homes is, at its core, a family business. And it retains its familial feel to this day, even with some 400 employees spread over ten offices across Victoria. To King, his crowning achievement over 33 years is not the accolades garnered, but how JG King Homes has continued to support so many families over the years. Those in the business look after each other and their wider communities.

It’s no small feat to be the pioneer of steel-frame housing and for JG King Homes, this accomplishment is shared with the entire community. Thank you for a wonderful 33 years Victoria!
